Painswick Lodge a Grade 1 listed historical former hunting lodge

Painswick Lodge is situated in an elevated position in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ with stunning uninterrupted views down the Painswick Valley. The house is approached through a pair of pillared gates and down a mature beech lined drive. There are extensive gardens and grounds with paddocks where Arabian horses and rare breed cattle graze. The house retains much of its Tudor ambiance with stone mullioned windows, ancient beams, stone door frames, wood paneling and polished floors.

Painswick Lodge dates back to approximately the14th Century and has been home to the Murray family since 1925. At this time the house and gardens received sensitive restoration and additions under the renowned Cotswold Arts and Craft team of Architect Edward Barnsley and Craftsmen Norman Jewson. The terraced gardens were created by Norman Jewson with the addition of two summer houses designed by Barnsley and the creation of a swimming pool with oak beamed surround to frame the view down the valley.

Today Painswick Lodge is run by third generation of the Murray family Fiona, with her husband Malcolm. For the first time in its history the doors will now be opened to private hire, weddings, film and photographic location and luxury accommodation.
